Hollywood Sucks!

Once upon a time, on a council estate in Liverpool, there was a little boy who loved films.  They were all he ever talked about and, I think it's fair to say, became more responsible for his understanding of the world than his devoted single mother.  In the years between 1981 and 1996 Hollywood (albeit inadvertantly) became his surrogate father.

Somewhere around '96 though, something began to happen.  Slowly he was noticing a growing disparity between what he wanted to see and what Hollywood was delivering.  But it would be another twenty years before that disparity became so vast that he stopped going to the cinema entirely and regarded any new titles (and especially any old rehashed titles) with untrusting and cynical eyes.

This blog is that boy's klaxxon with which to vent his frustrations.  As well as articles on the history of evolution of cinema, where we analyse how and why Hollywood went wrong, it will also include reviews of films that I think missed the mark.  As such it is likely to be filled with vitriole which I can only apologise for, but then this is not a celebration of Hollywood rather it is a critical eye.
